PECKHAM IN ACTION

LANSING, MI– The Peckham Community Partnership Foundation will host best-selling author, and singer/songwriter known for his appearances on the Glee Project and American Idol, Mario Bonds, on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 in a morning and afternoon session. Bonds will share an inspirational message and performance, “Without Sight but Full of Vision – Redefining What it Means to be Disabled,” as he recounts his triumphs over abuse, abandonment, and adjusting to and ultimately accepting going completely blind at the age of nine.

Best known from appearances on American Idol and the Glee Project, Mario Bonds is a singer/songwriter, fitness model and journalist who has inspired millions through his pop music, self-empowerment campaigns, keynotes, and his dedication to pushing others to beat the odds. While Bonds has accomplished many things, he is most proud of his journey to fatherhood after adopting his four sons in 2019.

This free event is open to all. This is a hybrid event; participants can attend both sessions in-person or watch the live stream. The morning session will take place from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and the afternoon from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Peckham will host both sessions at 3510 Capital City Blvd. | Lansing, MI | 48906. The Peckham Community Partnership Foundation supports Peckham’s biannual Speaker Series, which brings national speakers and authors, disability rights advocates, and individuals who have overcome personal challenges to provoke, motivate and inspire our audiences. Free and open to the public, the Speakers Series raises awareness around disability and other world issues while celebrating ability and diversity.

Peckham is a nonprofit vocational rehabilitation organization that provides paid job training opportunities for people with disabilities and other barriers to employment. For more than 45 years, Peckham has provided jobs and job skills training to thousands of individuals with barriers through five different business lines throughout Michigan, and also has operations in Phoenix, Arizona and London, Kentucky.
