LANSING, MI- Peckham is one of 13 organizations that received a $150,000 grant from the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency. The grant was made available for Michigan-based nonprofits to assist service members, veterans, and their families who are or are at risk of experiencing homelessness.
The grant funding will be used to support initiatives that offer immediate relief, sustainable housing solutions, and comprehensive support services for veterans in need. These initiatives may include temporary housing options, including overnight stays in hotels, construction or renovation of affordable housing units, programs to encourage landlords to house veterans, and more.
“We are excited about this new grant,” said Matthew Urhammer, Peckham’s Veteran Services Specialist. “It will allow us to serve our veteran team members in new ways, providing resources to enable them to achieve a greater sense of self-independence.”
Peckham serves nearly 200 veterans across its five business lines.
Peckham has strategic relationships with government agencies and community service providers, including Department of Veteran Affairs, Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency, Michigan Rehabilitation Services, as well as many contracts with the Department of Defense.
